This idea just came to me as I saw commercial for AT&T cellular modems. In this commercial the main character was standing outside the Fountain of Youth harping about how he’d found “something remarkable” which turns out to be “the internet”. The humor in these commercials comes from this character’s obliviousness to what’s actually remarkable right behind him. The commercial starts with elderly people frolicking in the water. As the camera pans away you see people of all ages splashing around in the water behind our main character.
As I was watching the people behind the narrator I noticed two kids who looked like they were in their early teens. I had a flash of my parents keeping me at very young age forever by forcibly giving me these age-preserving waters (the premise here is that the waters freeze you at your current age). I think this would be horrible to do to a child. One of the best parts of being alive is the progression of one’s self through the various periods of life.
I think this could be an interesting premise for a movie. Sort of like Pet Cemetary without the zombies. Your main character is desperate to freeze time for whatever reason (child has cancer, spouse just died, whatever) so s/he yokes their child(ren) into a sort of slavery by forcing them to be their young children forever.
